Photography for small creative businesses who want to be seen

If you run a small creative business, you already know this: your work isn’t generic, so your photography shouldn’t be either.

I’m Rebecca Thompson, a documentary photographer based in Newbury, Berkshire, and I specialise in working with small creative businesses, artists and makers who want photography that feels natural, honest and full of life, not overly styled or forced.

I absolutely love working with other artists. There’s something special about stepping into a creative space — whether that’s an artist’s studio, a workshop, or a business that’s constantly on the move — and quietly documenting what unfolds. I shoot using natural light, responding to what’s already there, so the images reflect the real atmosphere of your work and your process.

My approach is very much rooted in documentary photography. That means I’m looking for the moments in between: the way you work with your hands, the tools you rely on, the details that make your practice uniquely yours. These are the images that help your audience connect with you, because they tell a story, rather than trying to sell a polished version of one.

Although I’m based in Newbury, Berkshire, I work with small creative businesses all over the UK. I regularly travel for shoots and love photographing artists in their own environments, wherever that may be — from city studios to rural spaces.

If you’re a small creative business looking for photography that feels relaxed, story-led and genuinely you, I’d love to work together.
