The five best ice lollies

It may not be mega hot….BUT it’s technically summer so it’s officially ice cream season.

Ice creams feature a lot in my summer family photoshoots in Berkshire. Messy, joyful and the epitome of childhood, I love how over the years, the choice of ice cream and how kids eat them changes.

If your kids are like mine, as soon as the weather heats up, they’re brains turn to ice cream. I like to have a stash of lollies in the freezer, mainly shop bought I’m not going to lie because, well, life!

However, my eldest is a bit of a picky eater so I find it helpful to get her to make things with me as she’s much more likely to eat them!

Here are my favourite five:

1.     Frozen Watermelon

I love this one. Couldn’t be easy. Stick a stick in a triangle of watermelon, freeze it, and you’ve got a great snack!

2.     Vegan strawberry lollies

These are great as my youngest is currently dairy free and my eldest is suspicious of strawberries. Whack everything in a blitzer and freeze

3.     The fridge special

Whatever fruit and bits of veg you’ve got lying around, throw it into a blender with milk of your choice, some oats for thickness, a bit of honey and you’ve got yourself a lolly

4.     Frozen berry and gingernut yogurt pops

These looks AMAZING. I haven’t had time to make them yet, but I definitely will be. If you don’t have the mould, use empty yogurt pots and some sticks!

5.     Fresh orange lollies

I like the look of these, using the whole orange so trying to keep a bit of fibre in there, and also super simple.

and then, just as I was adding this to my website, the spy’s at Instagram sent me the link to THIS. Not strictly an ice lolly, but it looks AMAZING.

In fact…all of these do. I’ll stop now.
