How to throw a Midsummer party

Midsummer, also known as the summer solstice, marks the longest day of the year and the official start of summer. This ancient celebration has been observed by various cultures throughout history as a time of renewal and abundance. In many European countries, it is celebrated with dancing, feasting, and bonfires. In modern times, Midsummer festivals often feature flower crowns, picnics, and outdoor activities. There is a special magic to this time of year when the sun lingers longer in the sky, and the warmth of the season beckons us to spend time with loved ones and soak up the beauty of nature. There are tales of fairies playing music on Midsummer Eve, celebrating all that they do for the world.

I love the idea of being outside, and celebrating nature, so below are a few ideas to go in the mode:

1.     Flower crowns

Flowers play a big part in Midsummer celebrations, so why not make flower crowns! Now, I’m not the best at crafting, so I am going to buy a ready made crown, to then add flowers to that we find in the garden! However, I’m sure you can get some wire and give it a whirl yourself!

This one looks lovely

2.     Crafting

As Midsummer is all about fairies, and mystical traditions, why not do some fairy crafting with the children. You could paint fairy doors, make fairy potions, and write letters to the woodland fairies and leave them outside – they might just reply!

Why not create a little fairy area with this awesome fairy kit?!

3.     The party

Who doesn’t love a little picnic. Throw together your children’s favourite food, grab a a picnic rug and find a shadey spot under a tree.

·      Love this flower wall you could hang from a branch

·      Serve their food on these gorgeous reusable bamboo shell plates

·      I’ve never met a stripe I don’t like, and these are no exception

·      Hide little fairies in these gorgeous house straw baskets.

·      Bake a cake and serve it on this bamboo cake stand

·      Hang this around the edge of the table

I like to see this as all celebrating nature and the natural world. It doesn’t need to be fancy, children get joy from the smallest things.
